Large prints are an excellent medium to reveal the large resolution inherent in gigapixel images. xRez has designed and fabricated a 12' x 18' long custom display frame system to elevate the panoramic image to eye level and support it freestanding. Modular in design, it can accomodate various sizes and aspect ratios of various images. Materials used include hardwood, stainless steel, aluminum, and stainless cable. The image was printed on an Epson 9800 on (5) 6' x 3.5' panels, mounted on 6mm Sintra and laminated for ozone protection. A more economic solution for temporary display is to provide heavy lamination to a continuous 12' print for wall mounting. The experience of viewing prints this large is impressive, and many viewers spend up to 20 minutes just surveying across the detail of the image.
